Time to spill the beans

No no, not ME, silly! YOU!

Yesterday's post got picked up by BlogHer (woohoo!) and that got me thinking... it would be fun to do a story swap.

How's it work? You write a story of your first date (or a first date, the earlier the better!) on your blog, then let me know and I'll link to you here. Don't have a blog? Don't want to humiliate yourself that way on your own site (haha!)? Not to fear... just leave your story in the comments. Let's see how many stories we can collect!

Date stories:

- It was Cherie's story that made me think of this in the first place!
- Abbey tells of her first date via a few journal entries...
- Happy and Blue tells of his first love. It's a good one!
- There are stories in the comments, too! Check 'em out!

Come on, folks... don't make me look like a ding-a-ling, here! Tell a me a story! :) Heehee!

That's so funny! Just last week I did a journal entry sort-of about that...

Congratulations on being picked up by BlogHer. Since it's a womens site I can't participate in this wonderful venture even though my first date story is amazing, ha,ha..

My first date was with an extremely nervous thirteen year old named John. His dad drove us to the eighth grade social. In our picture, my silver braces clashed with the gold buttons on his ROTC uniform. I remember my dad really freaked out when my mom took me shopping for my dress and we came home with a strapless one!

In Europe we didn't really "date" or have socials, at least I didn't. High school I spent in a catholic, all girls, boarding school, where I got the third degree, when I received a postcard from a male cousin and a girl with abdominal pain, was asked if she was pregnant, turned out to be her appendix! But my constant playmate and first "boyfriend", when we were 4 or 5, had to be coaxed (by me) to give me a kiss, we climbed into a loft in a neighbour's barn, just as he was about to do it, my older sister and his older brother, who'd followed us and were hiding, burst out laughing. I never got that kiss.

Yes, I agree with Nachtwache. In Germany you don't really "date" either. We did not have socials or formals at school etc. However, in Germany you usually take dancing lessons (swing, jive, waltz you call it)when you are 14. It is not so much about the dancing itself, but more about finding a boyfriend. And it worked for me. I met a nice guy and I remember that he asked my cousin (he was also in the same dancing class) for permission to kiss me. I think he had not quite figured out the whole boyfriend-girlfriend thing yet, but it was kind of cute.

I came here from Happy and Blue. Like him, I've never been on a real date before this one below, they just sort of happened when I was young :-)

I wrote about this not long ago:
The first sweat date"
