The story (and photo credit) come from here.
(Ok, ok, I realize it's not nearly exciting to you who don't know him, but I think it's pretty cool that my brother's the only person pictured on the front page of a major national newspaper. Super cool!)
Updated: You know what? Just reading that article and seeing the various pictures of Stanley Park and all the damage makes me so, so sad. It's unbelievable the damage that those winds caused, really. The park will never be the same with some of those hubdreds-of-years-old trees just snapped off like toothpicks...

That's awesome! Congrats to you and your brother! :)
Oooh, that's cool! You must get it in a nice frame and give it to him as a gift, 'cause you know, he's a guy, and probably wouldn't think of doing that for himself.
Cece! That's a FABULOUS idea!!! I was SO hurting for an idea for him! (now I just hope he doesn't read my blog! He he!)
Quick, delete my comment!
Oh he SO does not read my blog. It's safe here!
I know how you feel! When the mine disaster in WV happened there were several pictures of my father-in-law on Yahoo. It was very exciting - yet, sad.
Wow. An estimated 3,000 trees. That's so sad. I thought the homeless man's stories were fascinating too. I didn't realize so many homeless people lived in Stanley park. When I first read it I thought people might think your brother was the homeless man! Lol! But then they specified that the homeless man had on a GREEN slicker :)
Are they blaming your brother for all the damage. Is he in hiding.
Ok, I'm kidding.
It is pretty cool he is on the front page.
And framing the picture for a Christmas gift sounds like a good idea..
At first glance I thought he was one of the genocidal Hamas guys. Usualy the main picture goes with the headline... oh that wacky globe and mail...

Yes, it's sad, but in reality, nature did it, not some punk vandal, so it's sort of ok, you know? The wind storm just cleaned out a bunch of trees at once that otherwise would have fallen one by one over the next ten years or so. They're old trees. And, it has brought a whole community together as they raise money and buy new trees for their beloved park. It's almost beautiful.
Yippee! Not all of us can be famous - so being close to someone who is, is just great! :) Even if it's famous for one day!
It's just nature's way of making room for new growth. Like how my scalp is being deforested for the sake of ear hair.
