Dis-card

Welcome to yet another glimpse of my inner crazy...

I'm doing a major cleanup at my house right now, and once again, I am faced with the dilemma of what to do with old cards. I have a stack of them that I just don't know what to do with. I hate throwing cards out, because the person obviously cared enough to pick it out, write it, and send/give it to me. On the other hand, if I kept every card ever given to me, I would need a whole room just to store them. I might be kinda messy sometimes, but I will NEVER end up like those poor folks on "Clean Sweep" with one room in their house devoted to piles and piles and piles of useless junk! Nevah!

Particularly meaningful cards I keep in a special box, but the rest? I waffle around and eventually put them into the recycling, but not without much guilt, and then usually only after they've been sitting in a file or a pile on my shelf for months and months. Why do I do this? It's not like I'm going to insult the person who gave it to me! Sheesh, it's just a card!

What do you do with cards you are given?

Like you, I keep the very special ones. The others I regretfully throw out. Realistically, I probably won't go through them again.

I've got lots of old cards. I tend to keep them for a while and then "weed" them when I'm tidying. I keep most of the ones with special messages in or that I've received for occasions other than Christmasses or birthdays.

Weeding means that not only do I get rid of some, but also I get to re-read some others.

And yes, it makes me feel a bit guilty too.

Keep the special ones to my heart and toss the others.

I do the exact same thing that you do. Sigh.

Oh, and in a particularly ironic turn of events, the word verification below was... "Chaos"

Haha!

Why I cherish each and every one of the cards given to me. I'll take them to my grave..
Actually I just scratch my name off them and give them to other people.

We finally just got rid of years and years worth of cards - the vast majority of them with nothing more than the sender's name written in them. No date, no sentiment, nadda. Really, why keep that?

We kept some that have a big long letter in them, or from people we really want to remember, but it's a very small number compared to what we had!

And, yes, I still felt guilty. :D
